1:00 check out is the best. No hurry to do anything. We all
slept in.
With all the rain we got over the last two days, the
humidity is almost unbearable. By the time we had finished packing up the
trailer, I had to change my shirt because it was dripping wet. We left the
campsite at about 11:30. We decided to drive straight through and try to go to
Rachel’s for a swim.
Montreal was, well, Montreal, and while the GPS didn’t lead
us astray, there was an accident on the 15 which was already down to one lane
due to construction. We lost almost half an hour just sitting there. We finally
got through the city when William declared that he really had to pee. While we
didn’t think it was a great idea we pulled over on a wide shoulder on the side
of the 40. Sam, Alex and Xavier all decided they had to go too, so they all got
out on Guylaine’s side because the traffic was flying by my side. Alex and
Xavier climbed back in and Guylaine came to the door and told me to shut off my
signal light and put on my 4 way flasher because we had almost been hit. She
said some woman in a Mercedes must have thought we were in an exit lane, got in
the same lane and was heading towards us full tilt. I guess she realized at the
last minute and got back on the highway. We’ll need to make sure the kids have
all gone before we hit Montreal next time. Pulling over just isn’t an option.
We stopped just outside of Hudson for some lunch. We went
for Pizza Hut. It was crap. Sam Alex and I all felt like hell after we ate it.
The rain started not long after, and by the time we got home it was raining so
hard we had to stay in the truck for almost 15 minutes. Once it stopped, the sun
came out and it was hot as hell again. I backed the trailer in and unhitched,
then unpacked the truck and we headed for Rachel’s. The kids swam for about 45
minutes then the thunder started. We got the kids out of the pool and into the
house just as the rain started. What a downpour! We stayed for a bit to wait
out the storm, then came home had an early supper and put the kids to bed
early. Need a lot of catch up before we leave again Friday.
