There's a desert in Maine?

That’s right folks. Even Alex Trebek and the Jeopardy crew apparently didn’t know that.

We were really slow getting moving this morning. So slow if fact we ate the lunch Guylaine had made before we even left. Today we are driving up the I-295 to the desert of Maine.  http://www.desertofmaine.com/

William didn’t want to come with us. (I found out later he was afraid. We recently watched the movie Rango and it made the desert look pretty rough.)

It was pretty neat. It’s a real desert out in the middle of the woods. We took a ton of pictures. At the end of the tour, they have an area where the kids can dig up gemstones. They loved it.

We headed back to the trailer and had a quick snack before heading back to the beach for 5:30. We had timed it perfectly. Low tide was 6:30 and we were able to walk far out into the ocean. The kids were busy collecting little crabs and shells. We strolled leisurely along the rippled sand. It was so beautiful and so relaxing. The desert and the ocean the same day.

We came back to the campsite and I made hotdogs on the BBQ while everyone washed up. We had a fire and put some ‘funky flames’ on the fire. Alex and Xavier both managed to get their fingers caught in the trailer today. It was another late night, but the kids were much better behaved around the fire. Everyone was in bed after 10, and Guylaine and I sat by the fire and had a few beers. I finally got the internet figured out, so I sent out emails to let everyone know we were OK.
